You should be here...very funny.
It's inside a gated community. When I drove 45 minutes or so to check it out yesterday, there was no one in the guard house...just a number I could call if I wanted in. Kinda hard to just drop on on the rally when it's behind a locked gate and there's no one to let you in.

Steve, same thing happened to me when I attended my first GMCWS rally in
Emerald R.V. park in Palm Desert, Ca. I just sat outside the gate and laid
on the horn. All 4 of them. It was a very short time until someone was
showing up to see what all the racket was. The exit gate works normally by
opening whenever a vehicle approaches it. There is sometimes a man gate
nearby that you can walk through and trip the exit gate. Then, if there are
no tire barricades, as long as something is in the exit lane, you drive
right through. If you have Internet on your phone, you can email or call
someone at the rally. I sure hope you did not turn around and go home.
Please do not get discouraged. Western States is a really fine bunch of
people.

Steve,

So did you call the number? If not, why not?

I was in the middle of trying to dial the number on my cell phone when someone drive up behind me, trying to get in. I pulled over and they opened the gate and gestured for me to drive through. It turns out I got there when there was nothing going on, so I went home. That's on me - I should have checked the schedule.
My point is, if you're going to invite people to just drop by an event, then tell them what to expect, i.e., "it's a gated community." I thought I could just drive in, get out, and introduce myself. I wasn't expecting to have to justify my presence to a security guard.

Les, JimK had to leave early. Gary Bovee has some solid state ignition kits for the Onan - he makes it really easy to do a good job. He has some other good stuff too.

If the gate is locked I can give you the code via PM. Otherwise you can try the number on the gate or just blow your horn like Jim said - we are pretty close to the gate and will probably hear you.
