IIRC, the hub hole on Dodge rims is to big.

Who really cares about the hub hole side as long as the wheels are lugnut centered?

If the hub size is not important, why aren't all the wheels made with a large hole?

Not all rims have tapered lugnut holes. The ones that don't are hub centered. The center might need to be thicker steel for lugnut centered, I dunno.

I think it's been said that GM simply used the hubs and wheels that were common on 3/4 and 1 ton trucks at the time. I suspect that less stringent manufacturing tolerances at that time may also have played a part in that decision.

For the most part, DUALLY steel wheels are NOT lug centered as you do not know what direction they are going to be installed. The outer rear duals are installed "backwards" from how we use ours. They would have to be thicker to have cone shaped holes on both sides. It is easier/cheaper to just make the pilot hole the centering feature.

About the wheels starting this thread: If all you want is the wheels the package price is way to much. The tires look to be to large for motorhome use. If the wheels could be seperated from the tires... Also the pilot holes are most likely to large. Ford and Dodge use a larger pilot hole. That said, I have found steel wheels labeled as from a Dodge with the correct sized pilot hole. I still have a hard time believing it was actually bolted to a Dodge front axle before the truck was scrapped. (That is what I was told.)
