Hi todd,
My experience says not to let the waste always sit against the macerator. Those things have small seals and, at least in my one bad experience, will leak into the motor causing it to freeze up eventually. I strongly recommend putting a gate valve between the waste and the macerator. I once had to make an emergency stop in AZ to replace one. Fortunately, I did have the valve in the system, just never closed it between uses. It looks to me like all the guts may be the same across the different makers of macerators so I'm not sure the seals would be any more robust one maker to another.

Dennis,
So the fluids in the tanks are always loaded up against the macerator?is it designed for that? No leaks?
Getting ready to do similar. Thanks.
