Hi todd,

My experience says not to let the waste always sit against the macerator. Those things have small seals and, at least in my one bad experience, will leak into the motor causing it to freeze up eventually. I strongly recommend putting a gate valve between the waste and the macerator. I once had to make an emergency stop in AZ to replace one. Fortunately, I did have the valve in the system, just never closed it between uses. It looks to me like all the guts may be the same across the different makers of macerators so I'm not sure the seals would be any more robust one maker to another.

Dennis,

So the fluids in the tanks are always loaded up against the macerator?is it designed for that? No leaks?
Getting ready to do similar. Thanks.

Gene,

That setup appears to be constantly loaded from the holding tanks as well.

On another note, only one discharge from both tanks? ( my royale has black and grey). I assume you just pump it all as one. I remember dropping black first then grey to "clean" the discharge hose.

Thanks for the great pictures of your macerator/discharge setups. Just finished getting mine all done (with the exception of wiring it up which I'll finish this weekend).

Here's some pictures of what I ended up doing.

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/g6598-macerator-and-backup-system-install.html

Looking forward to taking our first shake down trip of the year this weekend. Now that we can dump our poo, it's even more exciting. Very Happy

It appears that you have the macerator mounted on its side. This is ok IF you have rotated the intake head 90 deg to keep the intake as low as it can get and have the outlet at the top.

I cannot tell from your picture if you have done this. Also, what is the diameter on your inlet line?

I sure did. I found Rob's instructions on how to do that on the picture site. The diameter of the inlet is 1 & 1/4 I believe.

I had told Rob that he had to change his a long time back which he did. I didn't know that he later put up instructions.

This is the one that I referenced when switching the orientation of the pump... Made sure the inlet slot was pointing down and went from there...
