We had the original "flexible" hose coming off the back of the sewer tank break in half at the end of last season. I had purchased a macerator last year and thought this is the perfect time to get it all hooked up. That part ironically enough was the easy part.
I am trying to get the backup system in place (in case the macerator decides not to pump poo) but am unable to find all the parts to do so. I am using 3" pipe from Lowes with all the required bends etc but can't find the right gate or end pieces for the rest of the setup. I'm a bit hesitant to order something online without knowing if it will fit the 3" pipe or not.

I would never put all of that mess back on if you have a working maserator. Just a three inch shoot is all you need. Stop the pipe as short as you can from back of black tank. It's for emergency use only. All of the mess in that picture will just get in your way. I carry a three inch hose in the new box it came in, in the propane compartment. If it's needed just slip up under there and attach then open the three inch gate.

Here is what I did.

The emergency drain is via a Valterra 3 inch valve, the discharge side has a 3 inch bayonet flange and the cap is a bayonet cap with hose connection. If you ever need to use just stop by local rv shop or Walmart and pick up a hose and bayonet fitting.
If you have a Thetford 3 inch drain line the bayonet fitting does not work on a Valterra valve.

Dennis,
So the fluids in the tanks are always loaded up against the macerator?is it designed for that? No leaks?

No, I replaced the original Thetford valve as well. Some people do leave the Thetford valve open all the time to prevent it from sticking.

Thanks Rob.
It took me a awhile --- one issue was the crossmember did not have the removable lower flange. The rubber sweeping tee allows you to squeeze down the diameter during installation to fit the original center hole.

That is a very nice installation. But I have 2 concerns:
1. I hope whomever "zips up under there" to connect the hose in an
emergency doesn't forget to install those blocks under the frame for safety
-- a blown or suddenly deflated air bag could sure ruin the Zipper's day.
2. I hope the surroundings of the dump station are cleaner than most I've
seen when the Zipper's doing his thing.
Extending the drain cap out to the rear crossmember would alleviate my
concerns.

It appears that the connection is within arms reach of the rear bumper.
The Zippy would still have to deal with concern #2! YUK!

Thank you for the feedback.
In my research prior to installing the macerator I found several installations that had no provision for emergency -- but I wanted some option.
What I chose does have limitations as you point out -- I considered two additions -- long handle for the emergency three inch valve and extending the hose to the rear bumper -- and decided against both. I do have a rod/hook (which I tested) that can open and close the valve. By leaving the valve in the current location I have some access to lubricating the Thetford slide valve.
I have yet to buy a three inch dump hose -- so my set up is truly for emergencies. It has occured to me that the use of a lenght of garden hose to drain off liquids might be the best alternative in extreme situations.

Ive also seen references to conventional inexpensive garden hose for macerator discharge. Is this the case? will a smaller diameter hose allow for more pressure against the macerator and thus less push power uphill? 5/8" or 3/4" hose? Is the ribbed hose worth the extra $$$ ?????

Todd, My Royale is the same setup as your coach. I located the Mascerator
on the drivers side in that triangular area on the extreme left rear. I
used a hole saw and cut through the left side frame rail for the discharge
side. I plumbed it so the outlet is right next to the 3 inch outlet. I use
two Valera valves, one black, one grey. Both are ahead of the mascerator so
that it does not sit with liquid stuff in it. I located the fuse and
operating switch inside the generator compartment just above the outlets. I
can take pics for you tomorrow. I have done a least 4 Royale coaches. All
with side dry bath like yours and mine. They were all quite a bit different
from each other One even had three tanks. Some discharged to the center
rear, some to the drivers side, and some to the passenger side. They were
all a mixture of what Coachman installed, and what previous owners had
done. Nearly all the original tanks that I see anymore are cracked, mickey
mouse repaired and leaking. If it were my coach, I would start with new
tanks and go from there. Jwiwd.

. I cut a piece of 1/4" sheet and screwed/glued it in place with new vent nipple. The 3" exit pipe was reinforced as well with panel bond and fiberglass where it exits the tank and is holding. I would love some pics when you have the time Jim.
