You'll not find much in greater LA, but on the outskirts I have 2 recommendations;
Frank G Bonelli regional park at the intersection of I-10 and CA 57 in San Dimas (my brother stayed there a couple years ago when visiting) or in South Orange County try Doheny State Beach in Dana Point, right on the ocean.

Todd, I'm getting out of this rain in Seattle for a week myself, picking up
a coach that Miguel is looking over for me, I was talking to him just this
morning and he told me of this place near his shop it's a county park
called Prodo Dam look it up I'm going to be staying there when me and my
girlfriend go down around the 24 th of this month , you should stop by and
check Miguels place out anyway , I was thinking of staying at Doheney but
the guy I bought the coach from say's it's full all the time (reservations)
but I guess the day use area is great. go there and then take the boat to
Catalina island , let me know what you find out I'm right behind you

According to Yahoo Maps, there are a series of State Parks along the coast. I don't know anything about any of them except for Riverbend Community Park down in Lompoc. We stayed there for a week when my daughter lived there a few years ago.

The other place we stayed along the coast was Oak Park (a Ventura County Park) in Simi Valley. Both were very affordable ($15.00 - $25.00 per night)

Hey Sully;

You might check out some of the county fairgrounds. Lots of them have rv
sites for various activities (rodeos, 4H, etc) with water and electricity.
They are usually first come first serve. We've had pretty good luck
stopping early in the evening and finding spots.

If you see miguel ask him to call mickey his onan work almost burnt my gmc up! 714 642 5399

I had not opened the onan door since i left mgm. The f1 fuse was blown and someone replaced the gas line with

a bad one that squirted gas all over the motor like a shower. It was also put in as if on purpose. the rest of the po was new.

the last one to open that door was guess who.

Also send me a receipt that he promised. A year ago.

Plus i went to ragusa today and he needs to pay past bills over there as well.

they will not send him anything any more for he claims they get lost in the mail and won't pay.

he owes them for 3 front passenger battery trays and a rear ladder.

i was told. he is barred from ordering from them. Ask him to pay ragusa for 3 batt. trays and a ladder.

I would keep this off the net but it is more important that others know and protect themselves.

I told mr. ragusa i would not say anything but i think it is more important that others know the truth. sorry mr. ragusa.

he has lied about very important matters. He is not to be trusted. i do not care if he tries to kill me for saying this because

it is more important that all know than my safety. I come from a coal mining town, we don't give a shit. the truth is the truth.

this is my opinion by science, not bias, or games, science. buyer beware,.

mickey,

one more thing, you asked me to check the onan, which i did and i told you, it was simply that there was not enough fuel for the pick up tube to feed the onan, how we check this is, we lower the left side of the gmc all the way down, which will move all the fuel to the left rear corner where the pick up tube it. it started, i adjusted the carb, adjusted the output of the ac side and all way well, i told you that there is nothing wrong with the onan, my son now tells me, you mentioned to him that you wish we had serviced the onan???????.

the oil was fresh, all seemed fine, is there something we missed ?????

We have enjoyed staying at the city (county?) lots in Huntington Beach. Basically a parking lot with hook-ups on a beautiful OC Beach. Might be $$ though.

There are two RV parks by the LA Fairgrounds. The Fairplex KOA is across White Avenue from the Fairgrounds. The RV park next to Frank Bonelli Park (much nicer) is at Lake Puddingstone in San Dimas and it is South of the Fairplex between the Fairplex and I 10. We have stayed at both places numerous times for NHRA events. There is also Newport Dunes at Newport Beach which is on a lagoon across the Pacific Coast Highway from the Ocean. West of LA on the Coast there is an RV park on a hill across from the Beach in Malibu and farther North/West in Ventura there is one across the highway from the Beach. Farther yet (between Ventura and Montecito) there is a State Park on an old section of highway that is direct beach access.

Hey Sully -

If you're down here this weekend - check out the Pomona Swap Meet.

It's one of the largest auto swap meets in the country... Sunday April 13.

www.pomonaswapmeet.com

"Over 15 miles of cars and parts, 30,000 people, 2,700 vendor spaces, & 2,500 vintage rides."

Common practice is to get there at 5:00 or 6:00 in the morning.

And I think there's an RV park right next door.

Let us know if you're travelling into Orange County... I'll happily share an adult beverage with you !!

Thanks for all the ideas and input. Due to our location an the hour we chose the Fremont campground not far from Santa Barbara. Nice national park campground. Quiet night and now breakfast and onto LA
