I understand this is a general problem, the PO made a bad repair expecting a thin plate af alu poped onto the door the hold. It did not
I inserted a block of alu bolted the hinge trough both the inner and outer side of the frame a little weld and it is better the new

When something breaks there is alway a reason!
I put a new seal on the door and hung it back on the hinges and just as before I have to slam it to close
It looks like the bottom hist the body first and then brings pressure on the hinge
Maybe the door is more curved then the body ?
I could take it all apart again and move the hinge a bit but am not sure that is the right solution
Any input please ?

You may have to re arc the door. Take a close look at the door when closed and while closing. If the hinge side of the door is in the same plane and arc as the body when closed but the handle edge is not, the door can be bent by shimming the closing side with wood under the area that is too far in then applying inward pressure to the other. If the door is too close to center line at either hinge routing the mounting hole in the door to a slight oval will give some in out adjustment.

Thanks Todd
Did that and solved that problem
Next problem is the door is to low The bolt on the striker plate is worn down at the top
Have to take the door out again and do some more work on the hinges to lift the door up

Todd
What is the difference?
It seems I cant move the striker? or the lock?
There is some free space in the upper hinge ( door can move up) none in the lower
My thought is to take some material of the lower hinge, and put a spacer moving the door upward some mm and see if that is enough

If the strike does not line up with the door latch but the door lines up with the body then you née to adjust the latch in the door. There is some adjustment there. I don't believe the strike is adjustable. It's been awhile since I assembled my door but iirc there is adjustment in the latch.

I think some sagging of old age must be there
It seems now the door is square in the hole ( lifted the hinge a couple of mm)
but the rubrail does not fit with the rubrail of he body, if it did it would also line up with the striker
As it is now it is still to low and has to be slammed and the wife has told me to fix that!
The striker cant be moved as it fits threaded holes in the body
I could ovalize the holes in the striker plate

I have a new strikerplate on the way
But that will not solve this problem, I think it has been this way for a very long time as the top of the striker bolt is worn away

Also removing the bolts one and a time and replacing them with 4" or so all-thread and a nut, will make it easier to replace the striker without loosing the nuts and backing plates. Of course reinstall the correct screws when you are finished.
Emery, Is ovalize a real word? My spell checker does not like it, but it sure describes what needed to be done.

Ken
I doubt that it's a real English word but I used it because that is what Apple used in the message that I replied to and so I felt that he would know that meant the same as enlongate which I normally would use.
I guess that I could have used the Danish word fortaenge, straekke or vaere, langstrakt but I would not have known whether to use the transitive or intransitive form. :)

I just thought it was funny, but a very good description of what needed to be done.

I did not realize that you first posted it. I thought it was Emery.
The English language is loaded with words that came from other languages and unknown sources. I'm glad that I did not have to learn it as a second language.
What bothers me most is the way the British and Aussies have butchered good old American English. (TIC)
I once did a 7 month assignment reading and correcting books and manuals authored elsewhere (outside the US) in the company. We were at the time the second largest publisher in the world.
My job was to read them and Americanize the English used. It was kind of boring reading technical stuff that I was not interested in. Most of the job was eliminating / changing British words like "whilst" and spelling like "Centre".
It is interesting that I did that job whilst living on assignment in France.
These days every time I get a set of Chinese instructions written in English, I have to resist the urge to correct / Americanize them and send them back to the author.
The English language is a real mess. I have heard that Chinese is also that way.
Thanks for the new word Appie.

Yes Ken English is difficult, so many words and the us/english issue
But luckely as a foreigner I do not have to be correct all the time
As a mulitlanguist I have learned that the trick in speaking languages is to concentrate on what you DO understand and what you KNOW how to say in place of on what you do NOT understand and what you do NOT know how to say
And then just go for it, most people will want to understand you and accept you not being perfect.
So i speak spanish in spain and people will correct me, and I get better. Love it
