I am sure there is an easy solution and I am just missing it, but how do you remove the T-handle latches on the generator door or access hatch without destroying them. I have drilled out the rivets and the latch is loose in the hole, but unable to remove.

Help

Randy;

You may have already done this, but I think you remove the 'D' section[it pulls out of holes in the shaft] at the back of the handle and pull the shaft of the 'T' out the front.

Yep. Got to get that pin out. Use lots of your favorite rust breaker and work at it. For mine some came out really easy and a few were just brutal.

The D pin on the interior part of the latch, not the pin that is the "handle", correct?

I didn't try that since I was not sure if something was spring loaded or that was not what held the shaft in place.
I will give it a try.

I knew the answer was simple, just needed to ask the experts.
Worked great, now I can install on the loose door.

Jim I need to get with you sometime in the near future to help with a number of the simple questions that I have. I am sure that could save me a ton of time going down rabbit holes.

Wow. I never even considerd that idea.

I pulled the tip of the spiral "spring" out of the tip of the T-handle.
It's not difficult to get out and just as easy to put back in . Seems
to me that's how it was designed to come apart. A pair of needle nose
pliers did the job.

Could be some folks over thinking the problem here - but hey - we all
love to make tools. :^)
