Well Ive had my first airbag blow out yesterday. Happened just north of Gainesville on I75s. Luckily under the sofa were a bunch spare parts along with 4 extra bags. All 4 bags looked decent but 2 were compacted and 2 were expanded resembling torpedoes. Of the 2 compacted ones one of them had some stripped threads on the none fill side. The two "torpedoes" looked in great shape and had rubber sleeves over the threads and look to have never been used. But when i tried to compact them into the end cups they just wanted to fold over before they would compress into themselves. I used the bag the was pre-compressed and it went great and was back moving within the hour. I have been lucky so far with airbags and am fortunate enough to have a dozen or so spares and a bunch of temp spacers that I have found in varies coaches. My questions is could i have just installed the "torpedo" and it would have righted it self as air and weight were added? Is there a process that should be done to prep them for install? Being I was virgin to the process I just went with what looked the easiest.
Thanx. David
