Fuel lines old, hard, cracked and leaking at the ends. Tanks gotta come out and new lines put in.

Spent last Saturday trying to find cheap 5 gallon gas cans to hold the 40 gallons still in the tanks - when did they get so expensive? I bought 2 last year for $7 each. Cheapest I could find was $18 each.

Copied the setup someone had posted with their carter 4070 on the front bumper. I used the facet pump that was rigged to the aux tank and hooked it to the front fuel hard line near the engine to drain the tanks. Worked like a charm.

Decided to use some of that good daylight tonight after work to get the aux tank out. Removed the bolts at the front, would not drop at first. Poked, prodded, jacked - no dice. Then I removed the center bolt ...

Woo Hoo! Down and out:

Vent line was crushed, it wasn't in the groove. Supply line with its T for the Onan looked home grown:

Tis the season...I used the beautiful weather on Saturday (60 degrees) to paint the frame...I drilled out the rivets for the straps and plasti-dipped the straps on the tank side and painted the road side, silver to reflect the road heat. Now just need another decent day to start the reassembly. Good luck on your tanks...were they clean?

Sean, you are far more ambitious.

Just dropped the tank tonight. Haven't had a chance to look inside yet.

Annnd got the main tank out today. The fuel lines had been replaced at least once. the main tank looked like the PO had addressed some surface rust issues, and it was a lot cleaner than the front tank.

much as I am tempted to follow Sean's lead, I am going to keep this simple; throw a coat of paint on the tanks and replumb with rubber. hard part is getting the coach in the air, the tanks drop pretty easy.

Could not have attempted this without the wisdom of the hive. Thanks, Guys. Checklist is getting smaller!
