Just had a very pleasant conversation with Dick Paterson and ordered a new engine for Olga.
It will come with a iron intake and a qjet as well as a springfield ignition

I expect her to behave as a calf on a spring field.

Yes it is expensiv, but it make me feel confident when we embark on our longtime travel.

Dick also gave me a possible explanation for Olgas troulble:
he says that installing manifolds is a very tricky business, and if enough care is not take they will leak cooling fluid, thus ruining the engine.
Olga has a new edelbrock manifold and carb

Well we will not be rolling before sometime in may, but there is still lots to do.

Appie,

You've made a good decision, I am confident you will get many happy, reliable miles out of your Paterson engine.

Are you going to ship your engine back to him or is he going to provide you with a core?

I do not think Appie will ship it back, the cost would be higher than finding a core in the US.

And I really hope you will be happy with it and that it will give you many joyful miles Smile

Appie, I drove a stretch coach with a Paterson engine this week and was astounded by the power and smoothness.

I do not know of a cheap way to send something that heavy to Europe. I think there are consolidators that take in shipments from various people and put them in one container. You might have to go to Hamburg or something like that to pick it up.

Appie,

There are guys here in Australia that consolidate hot rod parts in Los Angeles and ship 40 ft containers to Sydney, Melbourne, and
Brisbane.

If you want to try that I'd suggest you try Google, maybe you'll find someone doing the same thing for a port city in Europe
somewhere. Try Hot Rod clubs they might know someone.

Yes I have a company I use in the states, virginia. (shopusa.com)They fly once a week
I just seems a bit silly to ship from Toronto to Virginia by truck to fly it to europe. Especialy as I am on a deadline
But that still is a option
Anyway Dick offfered to get some quotes out of Toronto, and yes I can pick it up in Hamborg or Copenhagen myselv

Appie,

AIR FREIGHT?

I just checked and the UPS air freight rate to Denmark was $9.71 per pound.

A 455 Olds weighs a bit over 600 lbs.

I sure hope Dick can find you a deal!

That's a good move. The carb and distributor should be setup and tuned to rhe hard parts. Drop in and enjoy. Next best thing to buying Dick a flight over the pond.

Wow, I don't ship that much to Europe but do in the US and that strikes me as a really good price for air freight.
