On both my pumps, the original and the Cardone 206800, there are two bolt holes on the back side. One is above the low pressure line and the other is in the middle of the tank just below and inside of the high pressure port.

The new pump came with plastic plugs in these, and I dug them out and determined they were treated for 3/8" bolts. The bottom bracket has a hole for the lower bolt and I assumed there was supposed to be a bolt there which is why I removed the plug.

The problem is that if I put that bolt in, the pump will not longer move to adjust.

My old pump had the top hole unplugged and I suspect this was the source of a slow leak and constant low fluid level...not to mention the lack of rust in the concrete of my parking spot Laughing .

The bottom hole had a ratty looking plastic plug in it and was not bolted to the bracket. There are about 791 bolts in this thing anyway and don't see a need for this one, especially since it kills the adjustment feature.

So here are my questions:

1- Should I plug it and forget the bolt? (the top hole is plugged with a 3/8 bolt and teflon tape.) The old pump ran fine apparently without it being bolted in for the 16 months I've owned the coach and probably long before that.

2- Should I bolt it to the bracket even though it will no longer adjust without removing it and once removed, it drains the tank?

I'm tired of these darn leaks.
