Yall wanna settle some of the arguments about performance and really quick iron? The Mitty runs April 25-26-27. I think it would be just cool as all hell to have a bunch of GMCs lined up someplace around the track. Where else can you watch rich folks thrash several million bux of Can - AM and Prototype cars from the Large Cojones days of road racing? whatever your taste, there'll likely be one running. Anybody but me gonna go watch?
For those coming up from South of here, it's a great leadin for Bean Station the following week.
I usually just walk over to the track - but if someone or ones are bringing their GMCs, I'll run mine over there as well. It would be fun.

What wonder? I been watching them run there since 1972. The place is much improved. Panoz and Ecclestone are reputed to be blood enemies, except for that, they'd run the US F1 race there. My old used house for 25 years was three miles West of the track. The new used house is maybe half a mile. I'd like to see the runoffs return. Everybody built hand grenades for them, season's end and it's go or blow. If you liked a close race, not uncommon to see the Formula Ford Fools put on a complete field for the Runoffs, with something under 5 seconds fastest to slowest. Ernie Smith from Montgomery was usually leading when it blew, I don't remember if he ever finished one or not.
I believe Donahue still owns the absolute lap record. It is unlikely ever to be beaten unless they return the track to the old configuration, which is highly unlikely. I believe a ByteBros friend, Greg Roberts, astill owns the record for coming under the bridge and down the hil the fastest san vehicle. He fell of a Triumph triple in a practice at the crest. Fortunately didn't hurt himself, wasted the bike and beat his leathers up. The pits were still on the putside at the time, more than one racer missed the last turn and went down pit road rather faster than one might like. It's a hell of a lot safer now.
It would still be cool to line up some GMCs for the Mitty. We'd draw a crowd.

I'm beginning to wonder about you!!!
Now, I might be able to borrow a friends F/F that he raced before that new non-draftable body came out and ruined the class.

Johnny,
That is on my list of things to do, but unfortunately, I'm probably about 3 years away from getting down there. Hopefully, I'll see you then!
