Was going to mount the new airfilter/waterseperator today
working underneath I found 3 fuel leaks- old hoses real bad
I managed to do temp. repair to 2 of them the last one beeing on top of the tank.
Of course I will be ordering new fuellines to do a proper repair
But as I am still trying to cure Olga I am wondering : If petrol leaks out, wouldnt the electric pump suck air into the lines? and what would that do to the system ?
I know it is not a diesel that would die on the spot, but

Appie, rotten or porous fuel lines can certainly put air in the fuel lines. Could it result in not enough fuel getting to the carg? I don't know.
I have been thinking if the power and overheating issue could perhaps be caused by a lean condition. I'm pretty good with logical troubleshooting but don't know much about carbs. However, I THINK that lean conditions can cause overheating and certainly loss of power. Perhaps changes in detonation timing which could account for your knocks.
Can someone with some more knowledge pipe in on this.

I would think it could cause a fuel starvation problem. The electric pump may be making it worse sending a intermixed liquid / vapor stream. Might idle ok then starve at higher demand. Gates Barricade hose seems a good replacement choice

As long as the carburators fuel bowl stayed full it shouldn't have any effect on a lean run condition.

Wel we'll see new lines are on order
Overheating is solved by the new thermostat, power got better without small filter, but still not good still knockin under pressure
