There are lots of ideas on the shoulder belt issue. We all have to evaluate what's best in your own mind. And it all comes down to what the odd's are for what type of accident that you're most likely to be involved in. I have an engineering background. I like the idea of the belts in the seat. But not on the OEM swivel base. That base was designed to handle the load of a fairly light seat with the belt holding the driver. Not a heave seat with a 200 lb person on it together. That's maybe 300lbs of force at lets say 3 g's mounted 30 inches off the mounting point of the floor. And lets say 12 inches above the swivel point. I've had that OEM base out. I'd never trust that base under that forward twisting load. That base was never designed for that type of loads. I'd build a stronger base that can be attached to the coach. I'm more interested in having the seat being held in place by it's own restraint source. And me being held in place by 3 points that have to deal with just
66 lbs each plus the G forces involved. I was in a plane crash in a Cessna last year. That harness didn't have a lot to attach too in the bulkhead. But it held. And I walked away unharmed.
