Had a minor operation on the L. hand (Dupuytrens' Contracture) that will
keep it in a cast for a couple of weeks. The others don't know what to do
without those 5.

The author Robert Paul Smith likened a hand cast to holding a large irish potato in the wounded hand and trying to do anything while holding it.  I think I'll skip the experience if possible,

It's kind of like re - rebuilding engines.  I'd much rather learn from your experience that do it myself.  On the other hand, getting Paula to do up my pants.... wacka-wacka!

And as an adise, my head remote engineer had all the handling quote, didn'
t ask where he got it:

Understeer is when the front end hits the wall
Oversteer is when the back end hits the wall
Horsepower is how hard you hit the wall
Torque is how far the wall goes when you hit it

I called Ken tonight to make sure he was not hurting. He's OK. I told him about a friend with the same ailment. He considered having a golf club placed in his hand before it closed completely. I think in Ken's case a left-handed monkey wrench might be more appropriate. Smile

Ken,

Aren't you glad you don't have to get Elaine's help to get into Class A? Wink

I can"t even remember the last time I wore Class A's. Not for retirement
in '81. Not while one of 8 military among 1300 civilians the previous 3
years. Nor the previous 4 in Aeronautical Systems Division. Nor the
previous 3 at a civilian college. Certainly not in a 6-officer unit at
Edwards AB the previous year. Nor in Vietnam before that... What's that,
45 years, at least! And just this week someone asked for my lastest photo
in it! :-)

Ken,

The last time I wore my Class A Dress Blues was in 1968 when I transited San Francisco when returned from Viet Nam on my way to
Travis AFB. I was walking through the terminal when several Marines in there "Dress Greens" called out to me asking; "hey bus
driver, when does the bus pull out?" I replied: "as soon as you baggage handlers load up the luggage!" They hesitated for a second
and then bust out laughing! WHEW! ;-)

Regards,
Rob M.
