So a hoodlum has smashed the driver's side windshield on my Greatfruit. I
did a little research, and saw someone mention getting it done through
Duncan Systems.

They happen to be the company my insurance handles rv glass through, so, I
figure I'm on the right track. Still, I figured you all might have some
tips that would help things go smoothly....

Anyone know where Patrick lives...maybe there is a local source to do the
job.

THIS is one of the reasons for having a signature with a name, address and
model of GMC....

If your insurance company uses Duncan Systems, to you Duncan Systems is simply the person on the other end of the phone. So if you have insurance, then let them handle it.

Since Duncan does not do the actual RV windshield installations themselves, they should ask you where you want it repaired. If you have someone locally who does truck, bus, and RV installs that you trust, then give them that name. Otherwise you are down to whomever they send you to.

Duncan will procure the windshield (they do not stock them) and ship it to the installer. It will come from a warehouse in either Oregon or Arizona. Then they will pay the installer direct for doing the work. If you have a deductible, you will pay that direct to the installer when you pick up the coach.

So basically you are down to selecting a local installer first and then notifying you insurance company. Most (not all) Insurance company claims work this way.

If you are paying for this yourself, then contact Jim K. He has them in stock.

Well, I have insurance but the deductible is huge, because I went cheap. I
don't really care where it comes from or who installs it, so long as it is
done right. I heard there were some warranty concerns when having a guy
install glass sourced from Jim. Economy is also a concern, as I am only
able to spend about $450 until my next check comes in two weeks, but
really don't want my coach disabled for that long.

The local cop has called and said that he isn't going to be lenient about
the "move it every three days" rule anymore, now that there's been
vandalism. Previously, he'd been letting it ride for weeks without marking
the tires.

It's not a great situation.

Call me and I will discuss what most friendly shops can do to cut down on
the deductible.
We supply glass and install to Duncan System couple times a month and they
reimburse for the invoice we charge the customer.

Since it sounds like you are not going to run an insurance claim, I strongly suggest that you call Jim K. in your situation. He should be able to help you with a local installer and supply the glass. It also sounds like he also supplies Duncan on some insurance claims.

I'm in Indiana near Chicago and obviously do not know your local market. Jim deals with California things all the time.

Patrick,

If you haven't checked with your insurance co, do so. Often there is no deductible on glass or at least a smaller one.

Yeah, if I had paid for windshield coverage, I'd have a zero deductible on
windshield glass. Unfortunately, I didn't, so it comes under
comprehensive, with a $2500 deductible.

Hi,

You don't have a neighborhood vigilante, do you? Some don't find motorhomes attractive.

No accounting for those folks.

Patrick,
Call Miguel at MGMGMC 909-229-7508. Montclair is only 35-40 miles from you, He uses a glass shop that is in the same complex as his shop for windshield replacement.

Mine was replaced there. My insurance co. and Duncan Systems coordinated the shipment and the local shop installed.
