Yesterday I decided to top off the Royale with gas so gave it about 10 gals to top her off. After dumping in the second 5 gallons I thought I smelled gas-sure enough a drip on the floor. Must be a hose, right? No such luck, it was coming from the bottom of the tank itself. Looks to be about a 5/8" long crack below and outside the drain plug.
What to do, drain the now full tanks? I thought of an old trick I'd heard of but never tried. Out came a bar of soap from the shower and I rubbed it into the crack. A miracle, it works so I then proceed to wire brush the area and apply JB weld.
Can't believe it but it seems to have worked. Who would have believed it, so far so good. Hope it will last until I build a new tank.
Just havin' fun,
Hal
