I took down the web camera a few days ago. Yesterday it was up to 39 degrees but I still had 6 to 8 inches of snow to plow from the night before. So I took a camera out to the county road and took a few snow pictures. I wanted some of you southerners to know what you are missing. Start here and push the left backwards arrow.

I have never spent the time to figure out how to sort photos correctly or to put them in a separate album. I'm lucky just to get them squished down to proper size and uploaded.

Ken,

That American flag is beautiful. Kind of miss the snow down here in Texas. But when it comes here, our live oak trees which stay in leaf all year around break limbs in a heartbreaking and wallet- straining manner.

Thanks for the pictures.

Ken,
You have quite a bit more snow there than we have have around here!
Most Montrealers will be happy to see this winter leave us, but I actually miss having an abundance of snow. It gives me something to play in with my toys. I won't miss the cold though.

I hear Alaska is having an abnormally warm winter.

Yesterday afternoon, Mary got back from visiting relatives in London OT. She said that they had more snow on the ground there than we have here and this is the most I recall in the 20+ years we have been in this house. They say we are only a little shy of an all time record for Detroit. That would take something more than another 2-1/2 inches.

We could miss that and I wouldn't complain.

Matt

Ken,

I don't see anything that I miss. Here in Florida it is sunny, temp in the 80's, and the water in the pool is nice and refreshing.

You may keep as much of my share of the snow and cold as you want.

We are suppose to get 1 to 2.5" of rain on top of the 3ft of snow on the ground with mold temps over the next 2 days, then top that off with 50mph winds.

Hope we don't see white-caps on the back yard.

I haven't checked the weather today but yesterday the National Weather Guessing Service was calling for 1" of rain tomorrow. It sounds like the same stuff you are predicted to get. After that below freezing temperatures. Temps here have been in the high 30's for about 30 hours and we lost about abut 1' of what you saw due to melt down. I actually can see about 50% of my driveway as the snow pack melted off.

I would have posted pictures of the GMC but it is parked inside with no snow on it at all.

They are worried about flooding tomorrow on several rivers in Illinois due to the predicted rain run off. Since the ground is frozen down to about the 18" level, none of the rain will soak in.

Oh well, all of the accumulated global warming was still fun.

Back to watching Olympic Hockey on TV.

The forecast starting at 4 AM has changed to 1.4 inches of rain and high wind with 40 to 50 mph wind gusts and a high of 47 degrees. If everything melted off we would have another 2" of water on top of that. You are correct. We may be looking at white caps in our yards tomorrow. I still have Blaine's canoe that I did not return last fall. I may have to get it out tomorrow. Actually we are on high ground and if it floods here I will probably need Noah's Ark rather than Blaine's canoe.
