Ed and Lucille picked up a red ex Palm Beach in Tuscaloosa and are heading
to Paris TX then home in Colorado. They were gassing up as we pulled off
I-20 for a pit stop.

A bit worried about their fuel lines; there was a fuel leak at the tanks
as they gassed up. I hope the other rubber near the engine is ok. Say a
prayer for them and be on the lookout for them. They have our contact info
if they run into trouble. I talked up the forum and the Black List a bit.

Nah, reasonably sure it's already in there. Saw where it had been
advertised by a guy on the GMC facebook group, so it's probably in there.

Dunno where in CO they're headed, didn't want to pry. All I know is that
it's a 9000 foot elevation. :)

It's a very nice coach. The mechanic I use in Bessemer AL took care of that one for years. Should be in pretty good shape, but it had been sitting a while, which could be the problem with the fuel lines.

Speaking of fuel lines, I replaced all of mine last Spring, before my
12,000 miles summer trip. For the last month or so of that trip, and
since, I've had to be careful to not quite fill the rear tank because gas
would run off the top of it. On Sunday I dropped the tank and found the
cause: Not my freshly installed steel lines with barrier hose couplings,
but the feed-through for the level sensor lead -- it had disintegrated and
half of it was missing, leaving a new, unwanted, 1/8" x 1/4" vent to
atmosphere.

I'm modifying a new production SS pickup/sender assembly to replace the 38
year old one. I'm making pictures, but I'm not sure there will ever be
another one available like this one. I paid $39.95 for it purely
speculatively and can't find the source again.

Right now that project's on hold while Kerry and I install his 1-Ton front
end -- test drove it today with good results.

My coach had a very similar leak when I bought it (I could put about 3/4 of the fuel capacity in before it would leak, though a steep driveway could induce a splash or two). The PO had replaced all the lines, presumably with ethanol-resistant lines, so I was perplexed.

So I bought enough new line to re-do the whole system, and dropped the tanks. The lines all looked great, though I replaced them anyway (since the spec on the new lines was marginally better than the "old" ones). Turns out the leak was at one 8" length of larger tubing that joined two metal pipes on the left side of the coach (forget exactly what was connected). It looks like whoever did the new lines didn't have a short piece of hose that size and just left the old one in place. Sigh...

Now I can run the fuel in at full flow until it's topped off, with no leaks, partially because the PO also replaced all the rubber frame-to-body spacers (which give the vent lines enough room to stay open).
