I've been hearing about the Dixielander Bean Station rally for about as
long as I've had a GMC (16 years now). Have never been to it, but maybe
this is the year I should try and make it.
Does one have to be a Dixielander to attend? What costs are involved? I
am assuming it is a work rally. What kind of work can be done by
attendees. I have a Rear Brake Drum Control Arm Kit to install. Is that
something that I could do there?
Is there a site where I can find out more? I've already looked at the
Dixielander website, but details are kind of sketchy.

Richard,
Yes, Bean Station is a work rally. There is a pad and a pit.
It is a good time, but at this late date I would would worry about
getting the covered pad. Ken H has said he will be doing a 1-ton there
and last year he and others did a Manny Brake. So they had the pad was
tied up most of the weekend. We were working in the gravel and it was
inconvenient.
One sincere reason I would not recommend your going there for this
purpose is very simple. If some does not go as planned, you are 519
miles from your home base. Though you may have some support there, Bean
Station is just not the hardware town that SE MI is. Besides, locally
you have resources to draw. I said I would help, but I can't promise as
many gawkers as we had when we did mine.
If you decide to go, call me.
Matt - look at the forum for a sig.
