I removed the roof vents and Roof AC today. I noticed that the corners were kind of rounded? Is this standard for RV roof vents, or are these specific to the GMC?

Any reason to save the old vents?

Thanks,

Steve

Steve,

If those are the Hammond Skydome, don't throw them away. The lids are like
chicken teeth. When they get old they crack. Ask how I know.
And there are no more to be had.

Mickey,

I have not installed a larger fan over the bath -- but will post a link to Wally's install -- and maybe others will add their experience.
As for moving the pod -- it depends on what size you have and exactly how you enlarge the old fan hole for the Maxi Fan.
As for plugging the fan in -- the new Maxi Fan should be 12V ??

Hope this is helpful.

Once you remove the old fan in the bath, you can see where the ribs are located and can use the trim plate for the new fan to locate where to cut. I marked the corners on the ceiling of the bath module, then drilled holes through the roof to make a template for cutting the roof opening.

I installed a Fantastic Fan on mine, and it completely transformed the look and feel of the bath module. It acts like a skylight to make the bath look much more inviting.

As far as the rood pod, I imagine it depends on where it's mounted. I didn't have one, so I can't comment on the pod.

I don't have a roof pod on mine either? Are there pre-drilled holes or nutserts already installed from the factory?

thank you i bought two maxi fans for front and back replacement of the old fans in the ceiling. They have a round corner on
all 4 corners of the 14 inch square. the maxis and fantastic fans do not have round corners they are 90 degrees. What is best to cut out the area around these corners and snip the ceiling lining. Best glue down and screw down for them through the top to what?
The maxifan which you can leave open when it rains which is why most people buy it now instead of the fantastic fan. But i have a new fantastic fan just for replacement of the bathroom small round fan which is 14 inches square as well, I am not sure if i have to move the pod that came with the original 77 palm beach, does anyone know if i have to move the pod to get the 14 in square in the toilet area? It would be great if i did not have to move the pod. THe positive and negative should be either way for all these fans go both directions with hand held blue tooth like radio controlled changers of speed and
direction.

I have the original roof air conditioner. What is the odds that it will work. I have not been able to try it yet.
I would like to also put a solar cell on the top of the pod lid some day. dreams gmc dreams. gmc = go motoring with class
the gmc has more class in one airbag than the big pushers. Did anyone ever see bob dylan who use to tour in a gmc back
in the 60's. THere was a documentary with him driving it with the poet that wrote HOWL.

Mickey - great mouse coach, anaheim ca. 77 palm playa

thanks for the hyper link Dennis. Please excuse me talkiing about my down under area.
but the gospa is really a great design: you all have to try this. it does not touch you at all it sprays on your butt from the
back down under and cleans you completely without paper first, then use paper to dry. It is the best design for black tank and clogging problems in the world. It is only 10 dollars and you will find you use it at home as well. This is a big break through!

Steve,

No.

When you install a pod you drill the mounting holes.

Save those removed vents. They were made by Hammond who is out of business. The vent covers are most valuable. The was a company making replacement covers but they refused to make any more unless I agreed to order 100. There also was a company making those out of fiberglass. I some in one of the Elkhart surplus stores about 8 years ago. I should have bought them at the time but I didn't.

The motor, switch, and resistor are also useful parts.

If you do not want to keep them I'll bet Jim K. might take them off of your hands.
