I had posted a while back that US company Cooper Tire was being acquired by Apollo tire of India. I mentioned this to my tire guy as he sells Cooper and he told me the deal was off so here is something from the NY Times on the matter. Glad in a way that they are still US based but sounds like a real legal mess for all.

I've long purchased Cooper tires for my street cars (using the same tire guy that John does), and am hoping that they can continue to build tires here in the USA. As with the Porsche-VW stock deals back a few years ago, there's always a lot more to these big company buy-outs/mergers than first appears to the general public.
