Thanks for your perspective, Jim. You and the other major GmC vendors have seen it all, heard it all, and suffered through way more than those of us who just own and enjoy these wonderful old gals will ever know. This is exactly why I think it is important to create this un-censored rating service. It will help us all learn which rebuilders have consistently good or bad customer experiences and which are a cramp shoot of very good or not so good customer experience depending on whatever all the variables might be.

My feeling is you and the other major vendors could apply your skills to the R&R process to both drive up the quality of the install while at the same time driving down the cost of the R&R if the customer made their own decision about which engine builder to buy from based on the unfettered experiences of hundreds of owners. That would also free you from the liability of engines from rebuilders whose product quality is, shall we say, variable.

What I have in mind is more than just a few stars, but includes cost, shipping, core return experiences, and after install performance experiences. I hope you and the other major suppliers will tackle this rating service with the same enthusiasm with which you have provided to us such a great parts service. Thanks.

I can tell you that a high priced engines are no better than another
average one as it is dependent on who worked on it.
Since there are 3-6 people involved in the process, it's a gamble.
I have installed several from each or the Big Name shops.
I have not had any problem from ones from Dick Patterson.
I have great relationship with all, so I am only stating my experience only.
