Most know that I'm new to the GMC MH world. Lord willing "if" all goes as planned; I will have my first GMC this summer.

Anyways I saw this picture and thought it be great to use for my learning.

What is most likely the problem for why the first rear tire is sitting like it is?

Could it be a 73 that did NOT have the rear bearing/hub recall done?

Or

Is it most like due to a bent or broken Bogie?

Pull forward 15' with the steering due straight ahead. Then check it again. They do flex by design. Hopefully not frame rot.

I'm with John on this one. The first time you back up tightly and get out
withut taking the 'strain'off, it will scare you to death. Do what John
says.

Yep, what John says. I doubt anything is wrong. The bag is down on other side, wheel is cocked, and they just left it sit that way. Not a good idea. When I park, for any length of time, I pull forward, back up 30 feet, pull back forward, and park it. That straightens up the rear.
BUT, this type thing will scare a non informed GMCer.

No matter how I turn back or forward with The Pig on pavement I never see that much camber. I think its bad bogie pivots and or wheel bearings in the forward bogie. Both of my forward arms had huge play but the trailing were snug prior to re bush.

I think that is beyond normal. I think the bogie is bent or the frame is rusted. Too much negative camber.

I think if it was frame rot they would both be cambered in.

There may in fact be a loose rear pin bushing but the rear suspension has to be able to deal with the lateral movement because of their tandem design.  That said, it is not at all unusual to see that going into a tight turn.  The swing arms have a flex rate builtinto them.  They must to dissipate the tension to the frame or tire sidewalls, that's why I feel the "True Tracs" are wrong because it stops that flex.

Tony,

The first GMCMI Convention I attended was in Santa Rosa, California. The exit from the lot where the GMC's were parked went on to a
highly crowned street. I was at the exit one day when a GMC pulled out and turned right. I watched the passenger side rear wheels
form an "X" as the tires went down into the gutter and then climbed the crown. I was aghast! I ran after the GMC to tell him he had
a big problem with his passenger side rear suspension. I took the license number down so I could search him out and tell him.

When I got to the seminar I wanted to attend I mentioned what I saw to a long time GMCer and he laughed and told me that was normal!

If you look closely at the photo you will not the tire marks in the pavement. The way they are curved would cause the middle bogie
wheel to camber the way it is.

Here's a picture of a failed frame:

What is most likely the problem for why the first rear tire is sitting like it is?

Could it be a 73 that did NOT have the rear bearing/hub recall done?

Or

Is it most like due to a bent or broken Bogie?

Jim B i I love that you agree with the GM chassis engineers design. I think that a lot of that design was there to give it that Cadillac ride with less NVH. When in doubt I always assume that they knew what they were doing and were doing it for a reason

No thanks Bob. Not on my account. I have no interest in it.
I was using the picture that I found of the back wheel to ask and learn.

I had heard about the EM(73-74) GMC having smaller pins along with the rear hub and bearing recall. I had also read about bogie arms getting twisted.

So I asked to learn before I go pick up my first GMC a 1973 26 foot.
