Rob. You mentioned that shield. I've never seen one. How is it different than the original GM? And if you blocked off the heat passage in the intake manifold. Then you wouldn't have to be concerned about oil hitting the bottom of the hot intake manifold anyway. Our coach sits in my heated/ AC shop that I built for it. I keep it at 60. ( except now with all the below ZERO temps. High yesterday -9. -20 last night. Now I have it at 40. ) I don't take it out in cold weather. So carb icing isn't an issue at startup. The coldest temps that we're out in. Is when we head to the March Rally. ( Yes, Carb icing can happen at 40. ) I start it up. And don't stop till we hit the warmth down South. Our 403 still has the shield in place.
