Did Buskirk modify the GMC engine or use it stock as from GM.
I have one which was turbocharged that I would like to have rebuilt to use in the Edgemonte, but without the turbo. Anyone's guess as to what the PO did to it. I belonged to A.J. Marshall.
Thx, Michael at gemrecs

Michael,

I remember seeing that engine when I visited your shop and you noting that "it's NOT for sale!"

It is possible that Clarence might have lowered the compression ratio by installing dished pistons and a cam suited to a turbo.

When you have it rebuilt you can put new pistons and a RV cam in it and Bob's your Uncle!

Regards,
Rob M.

Clarence was open to modifying virtually anything. He did have heavily modified Olds and Cadillac engines in his coaches. He was an amazing man.

To my knowledge Clarence used a marine application 454 crate motor modified to fit into the coach.  The rebuild should be a standard 454 Chevy rebuild to stock.  I would do some different things to have it focus on low rpm but it should not be a problem to have someone do a descent job on it.

Michael,
Did you say that motor came out of a buskirk built coach or a buskirk Stretch coach? If you have any info on the coach and it was a stretch coach I would like to contact the owner. I am doing a history of the Buskirk Stretch coaches and any info would be appreciated

Hello Jim'
Well, it looks exactly like my 455 in the GMC except for an Edelbrock hi-rise intake and the turbo stuff, i.e., it has a larger oil pan. I have had 454s in other coaches. Maybe A.J. Marshall, changed the engine instead of just adding a turbo. I'll find pic and shoot it to you............Michael

I got the wrecked Buskirk-it was mostly in pieces, but not a stretch.
