Does anyone know know the nomenclature of the screws with the double D heads on the hydraulic wiper motor? Are they an aircraft or specialty machine screw? I have an oil leak and am wondering whether to replace them with socket head screws or look for a special socket. Nothing comes up at McMaster-Carr or Grainger. Thanks, Kirk

Well, I can't answer that one but I *can* guarantee that's going to be an, ummm, interesting search term.

A clutch head is a type of socket drive, these screws have an oblong external head. Thanks, kirk

Geez Gene I just want to torque some screws not spend a couple hundred on electric wipers. The hydraulic wiper motor works well; there isn't much rain in Nevada anyway. :)>

It looks like part of a strut socket, most kits come with a hollow driver that the double D socket fits through...google shock absorber socket. Lisle 13400 or GM- A430

>RainX
I started using this stuff before it was cool. Back then, it was THE SECRET shared at English car clubs because -you know- Lucas. Fast-forward 20 years or so and we end up with Grand Caravans that have good wipers but windshields the size of a roadside billboard. So I break out the RainX and problem solved. Then my wife & I get used to driving with ZERO windshield wipers and love it. Luckily, the stuff is everywhere now. I also use the reservoir additive.
>strut socket
That looks like it.
>gator-grip
I came here to post that, yeah, I picked one up that was supposedly an impact socket (yeah, right) at O'Reilly's. As it happened, I did use it in a 1/4" battery-driven impact gun to break loose an odd-sized drain plug on some German vehicle. It worked! One of these gator-grip sockets is darn sure going in my travel-tools kit for each coach.

Agreed. It's about as sloppy/useful as a Chinese crescent wrench. That said, there have been a few times roadside that I've sung the Hallelujah Chorus when I've searched for and found a Chinese crescent wrench tucked under a seat.
