I'm sorry. But I haven't been following this. Has this been talked about. I have a 78 Royale with the compressor at the rear. Does the ignition switch provide 12 v to the compressor area without using any of the control switches? I need a 12v power source that is controlled only by the ignition switch for a rear camera. I hoping to not have to run a wire from the front.
Thanks Bob Dunahugh

Of course each circuit is different depending on which year of the coach:
Power Level folks have no relay and adding one is simple up front. You could easily modify the circuit by still using the original ignition controlled power for the "primary" side of the relay rinning the regulator there allowing it to work without a hi current going through it. I also usually wire in a on/off switch air ride control panel mounted to turn off the air ride system as the hold position does on the later air ride systems. That way if something unexpected happens to the system you can just shut it down.
Electro-Level & ELII folks have a relay (the same relay used in the dash AC blower system) mounted in the compartment right near the compressor. I leave the regulator in the high current side for no other reason than to not confuse the world and just cut power coming into the realy and feed it with a 40 amp fused 8 ga. line from the living area fuse panel. "KISS" is a good thing always.
These are all simple mods that are helpful and create a more stable, reliable circuit. BTW, you ELII guys, sorry for your misfortune, I have a whole new suspension system tossing completely the ELII circuit that cannot be maintained and repaired easily. If you wanna know more about that let me know. There are of course other options (wireless system, etc.)

If the control switch for the compressor is near it, that's where the switched power will be available.

One of the thing people overlook on the Electro-level 1 (with the rear mounted compressor) is that rewiring the compressor circuit the positive side is only 1/2 of the circuit path. The other 1/2 of the path is the ground.
Doing Jim's modification changes the power source (for the compressor motor only) to the house batteries. Since the house batteries and the compressor both attach to the body of the coach, the ground path you get the better ground path without having to change any wiring.
Also since the alternator is the real power source when the engine is running for both the house and engine you get a more direct path via a 2 gauge wire most of the way direct to the isolator and alternator.
My point is that this is a good but simple modification for multiple reasons on electro-level 1.

The simple answer is NO.
Power to the relay goes through the control switches first.

At $175 a whack, you didn't get hurt. I betcha you can put a 'power drawer' intake and carb on and they'd fit the GMC genset bay. You will lose a bt of capacity doing that, but so did Onan. But it fits that way.

Went and paid for the two 6500 watt Onan generators. $175 each. They look just like the ones in our GMC's except they're not in a draw setup, 110/220 volt, and they have downdraft carbs. 1 has 276 hrs, the other has 562 hrs. They're guaranteed to work fine, and not smoke. All spark plugs were clean. Both come with a remote control panels. Looked well maintained. Minus 22 wind chill today. Monday it's predicted to be above average at 29 degrees. Sweet shirt temp. Be a good day to start them up before removing from truck. I need a generator to run the elevator in our house if the power goes out, or a fire. As Linda is confined to a powered wheelchair Been looking at different new Gensets. But have been finding too many Chinese components in them. This generator CAN'T fail. So I'll trust the 30 year old USA stuff more.
