Honda Odyssey seats seem to be the most popular, perhaps. My wife had a long, hard battle with sciatica years ago. Over the years, we found that the best seat for her was Grand Caravan / Town & Country (1999-2007). I'm having JimB put the seats from a 2002 Grand Caravan in the Royale.

Skip good luck on getting your new seats.
I too might end up getting some newer seats when we finally take ownership of a GMC.

FYI - I'm not trying to hi-jack this thread.

But because we are talking about replacing the old seats; I just thought I mention again that I'm looking for the old seats with built in arm rest as seen in the link below.

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/miscellaneous-pictures/p52117-gmc-front-seat-for-mea.html

Some members already know this and have been great in that they have offered their old seats to Marie and I and I’m making a list.
However, I will need many SETS of them.
We currently have 6 UVs we plan to use and display in our Ultravan museum with plans to get at least 3 more.
I would prefer to use the same style of seats in all our Ultravan coaches so they will look the same and we are use to how everything feels and works.
Some coaches will only need one set and some coaches will need two sets.
As long as people can store them I'm willing to pick them up and maybe even pay to have them shipped to us.

I just wanted to put it back out there since you are talking about changing your seats.
BTW - I would be more than happy to take your old ones off your hands, if they are like the ones in my picture, and put them to good use once you have replaced them.

Thank you and everyone for your time and consideration.
Sincerely, Tony

Tony (Ontario Canada)
Marie and I are blessed to have had a 2nd chance to buy our farm.
Still hoping and more importantly praying to be able to build a garage.
Our 1970 Ultravan #520 has an Olds Toronado 455 in back.

The seat you are showing is from a 1977 Kingsley...possibly '78.

Skip, in mine, reused the original seats and had them recovered after I
installed a lumbar support from a '68 Volvo 144. A fairly straight forward
task.
After the upholstery, I painted the plastic parts and pop riveted them in
place.

So ...original seat reupholstered with addition of lumbar support.

Skip,
The second-row Honda Odyssey seats are certainly popular, though their demand may be making them more expensive. Also the current ones have only one armrest. The 2004-2010 model years have both armrests.
I managed to snag a pair of very good seats out of a late-model Chevy Astro LT at my local Pull-a-part. They have both armrests, nice firm upholstery and adjustable lumbar support. Also a very comfortable shape. $20 apiece. Here's a link to the same seat on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2002-CHEVROLET-ASTRO-RH-Right-Passenger-Front-Cloth-Manual-Bucket-Seat-/320989379528?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories& ;hash=item4abc753bc8&vxp=mtr.

The PB had GMC seats, the Transmode has FlexiSteel.  The FlexiSteel gets the nod.  I'm on my fourth Mopar minivan over the years, I've spent considerable time in Honda vans.  The FlexiSteel still gets the nod.

When replacing the front seats, has anybody replaced the passenger seat with a small bench seat that could accommodate two people?

Jim B has a line on the seats similar to the Flex Steel.
We can supply the same.
We also can supply the Flex Steel very soon.
The one we will be handling will be slightly smaller than the standard for
clearance.

The only way I'm gonna dropmy FlexSteel is, if they make a buddy seat for the passenger side.  Do they yet? (FlexSteel buddy seat, not the original GMC one)

Thanks Jerry. The idea for a buddy seat may get put on hold for
complicated reasons so, while I figure that out, I don't want to preclude
anyone else from buying your seats. I have your number and will contact
you if the plan swings back to buddy seat (my vote, but getting resistance
;-)

Thanks so much - and, someday I'd like to hear how you come to have dual
addresses in NC and Oregon! :-)

I have two flexsteel if anyone is interested out of a 76 Edgemont as I replaced mine with leather seats out of a Suburban. I am in Magnolia Texas just North of Houston. The Suburban seats are nice but only have one arm rest but works for me.

There is an ad in the San Francisco Bay Area craigslist for a pair of
flexsteel seats from a GMC (I think). $100
