In reference to below, I'm not mistaken, the check valves in the vacuum tank are there to hold vacuum in an emergency. I believe the tank should also serve as a backup if other components in the system leak unless, of course, the leaks are catastrophic such as a suddenly blown vacuum hose or a booster that separates, both very rare events.
