We chickened out on that one. It took us about 1/2 mile after the bottom
of the crooked 9% grade to finally come to a stop with my foot planted on
the brake and pulling up on the steering wheel. We stopped at a house
near that 15% sign and asked about it.
Had there been cross traffic at any of those cross streets at the bottom
of that 9% grade, we'd have been toast.
And that was using low gear and the brakes.
Brakes may be cheaper than transmissions, but transmissions are cheaper
than accidents and funerals!!!
