Chris covered the subject well. The last oil that had the higher zinc for gas/ labeled as SL was last made in 2006 I believe. Oils labeled as SM, SN, and SO. These last ones have reduced zinc. I just ordered a 55 gallon drum of oil from a manufacture that meet the SL/ C rating. It's rated for S ( spark ) or C ( Compression, Diesel ). I use it in every thing I have. If you buy the oils that already have the 1200 ppm of zinc ( ZDDP ) that is recommended for flat tappet engines in it. You well have the proper blend of ZDDP in that oil. So then you don't have to spend the money to add zinc to that oil. So when you travel, and have to add oil. Take some of that oil with you so you can maintain the proper blend of ZDDP in your engine. This way if you have to add oil while on the road. You don't have to measure out the ZDDP additive each time you add oil.
