cheap or free flow charting program [message #234515]

I'm looking for a free, simple WINDOWS BASED flow charting program. I'm thinking of building a simple flow chart for new people shooting GMC 12 volt electrical problems. It seems like about once every three months or so we are answering the same questions and I'm a terrible typist.

I have several suitable programs from my Project Management days but if I use them no one else would be able to update or change the output and probably apple users would be totally out of luck.

Any ideas will be appreciated.

Ken,
I would avoid downloads from CNET. They earn some of their money by tossing unneeded "baggage" into their downloads, such as toolbars or coupon programs that slow down your computer.
There are a couple of free Office suites called OpenOffice and LibreOffice that both include flowchart symbols in their drawing programs. Both programs are free to download direct from the source: openoffice.org or libreoffice.org. Both are highly-rated open source projects.

Thanks both Dave and Steve. I downloaded the one Dave recommenced. I worked just OK but I got a simple first page done. I had a lot of trouble with fonts. So far I'm just using one.

Steve, I already use open office. I will look and see if it has anything better that the one Dave recommended.

Also you are correct about Cnet. You have to read every screen to keep from getting some extra crap that you do not want. Afterwards I usually go look at the add-remove programs list to make sure I do not have extra unwanted crap there. I think I'll go do that now.

I use AutoTrax for make electrical/electronic documentation drawings.

It comes on sale from time to time, I think I paid $49.00 for it.

Its actually a schematic program, but I tend to use Eagle for that simply because that's what I've always used.

Years ago I did them on a mainframe based system that did every thing including serve you coffee. I wrote a couple of technical books that way.

I also used Corel draw and Visio years ago.
