I must have been good, Santa brought me a back-up cam and 9"TFT LCD screen, where has everyone mounted their screens? I've searched the photo site but only a few show up. Happy New Year!

I made up a shelf that mounts to the same bolts that hold the ends of the sun visors in the center. The shelf lets the monitor sit below the rear view mirror. I tried it in several positions. Down on the dash I had lots of reflections and glare. Putting it up high cut all that out. Plus, I've been well conditioned over the decades to look up toward the rear view mirror to look out the rear Shocked Laughing .

My rear view mirror is mainly for seeing what's going on INSIDE the coach.

I don't have any photos of it but if you want I will take a couple tomorrow.

Just a question: With the near-uselessness of the GMC's rear view mirror,
why not just replace the whole thing with a larger screen? I was lucky to
find, at Sam's Club, a 7" Peak rear view camera for $69 with wireless
connection. It was very easy to adapt its base to fit the contours of the
headliner. Now I have the 7" screen hanging right where the mirror was. I
wouldn't be able to see much in the 2-1/2" screen common to in-the-mirror
screens.'

Ken,

I STILL haven't gotten around to install mine! Where did you locate the camera?

There's a clothes closet at the left rear of the GMC. In there, I cut a
lens view circle in the applied solar film on the rear window, near the
top. The camera looks through that clear area. The view is wide enough
that I can see almost to the tow bar at the front of the toad and have a
good view of lanes left and right to about 8' behind me. The transmitter
is mounted to the closet wall. The only problem with the system is that
there seems to be an intermittent connection somewhere that causes the
display to flash occasionally. I've learned to live with it since I can't
find it.

Ken,

Thanks, I actually got the camera installed - in the middle of the spare tire carrier. I chose that location because we didn't tow.
Since I'm building a VW to tow that ain't gonna work. I'll relocate the camera to the top of the rear window like you did.

Thanks,
Rob M.
