It seem to be the case that it doesn't matter what you pay to start. Your going to have $25,000. in it or more no matter what. Right guys? ( GRIN ) Tony. We've talked on the phone about Ultras, and GMC's. You have a lot going on. Maybe find one closer to home. And spend that travel money, and time on the coach. Work out another arrangement on the boats. ( those are neat boats. ) ( can I have one. PLEASE PLEASE ) Call me tonight.

$25K would probably be a minimum that you would end up with. I probably spend $2K TO $3K a year on upgrades and neat things.

Need paint, re-do interior, small stuff $????? Only 10K to met the goal!

No. You can get one that is useable for less than $10k. You CAN spend as much as you want for stuff that makes you feel better about safety, reliability and aesthetics. But almost all of that is optional.

Define optional. Owning a GMC is optional. Nobody said that $25K had to be put into a coach to make it usable. What has been said is that, eventually, you'll have $25K in the coach. The number is not written in stone but it's a good approximation.
I'm also not clear on what part of safety and reliability is optional. Please explain.

What irks me is someone who thinks they can buy a cheap coach, has a budgeted amount of money to do the work they want to do, guts the coach, runs out of money, and we lose another one. Or someone buys a cheap coach and tries to drive it a thousand miles home and loses an engine or has a fire.
I'd rather scare someone up front than have them get beat up later.
If someone wants a really cheap RV, they should get an Ultravan. Sorry, Tony! The devil made me do it.

Rear disk brakes. One-ton front end. New engine. New transmission.
I say again. You can get one for less than $10k that has working fixtures and appliances and that will get you tens of thousands of miles before it needs big bucks.
By then you can decide if the GMC game is one you want to stay in. And you can decide if you need/want the big ticket items.
I paid $6800 for the '73 23' Sequioa, 67,000 original miles. $1k for 16" steel rims and Michelin tires. $100 for new chassis battery. Second hand fridge, $150. $90 for a new Progressive Dynamics converter. $300 for Honda Odyssey seats and bases. Ready to use.
I'll take $8k for it right now.
