There are some issues with the valving for the tanks, which is a bigger issue than the tanks themselves. As I was told, the internal safety valves have some issues on the early coaches.
On my coach, the gasket behind the in-tank level gauge sprung a leak and I could smell the gas as I walked by the back of the coach.
The cost to repair and upgrade the tank to new gauges and valving, plus difficulty in bulk propane refill sites locally had me change to 2-20 lb propane cyls with an automatic switchover device.
As was in a thread earlier this month, the tank itself is durable enough to not need the ten-year hydrostatic tests that DOT cylinders require.

The tank and gauges (inside and outside) in my coach have worked fine since I bought it, other than a VERY big leak around the valve - but only when opening or closing it. Fully open, or fully closed it doesn't leak, so I haven't gotten too energetic about fixing it.
The fill valve sticks once in a while - I've had a couple teenage gas stations guys get the deer in the headlights look when they pull the schnozzle out and get a faceful of LPG, but I'm always standing by with a wooden stick to give the valve a tap (which always "fixes it").
When I get ambitious, I'll find a rebuild kit for the valves and will then expect it to last another 30-35 years without problems.

I had the valve and just about everything replaced in Fallbrook. He said
the life expectancy was about 15 years.

Just a guess on my part based on my 77 Kingsley, but I would say...the
tank.. at least 50 years. The gauge on the tank...maybe 20 years, and the
monitor on the wall inside...about 20 minutes !
