I finally have a front dinette. I don't have the wooden spacer that attaches to the wall.
Can someone measure one for me?
Please?
Thickness is most important...
thanks!

I'll check my '76 Royale when I get to the shop later today. Is this the table that has one fold up leg and when you fold over the leaves there are cup holders on them?

Hello, Keith. I have a Birchaven by Coachmen, so originally our tables were probably the same. The spacer I have behind the aluminum interlocking hardware is a 1x. I do not know for sure if it is original or not, but it looks original. One of my previous owners added valences and clipped the corners of the fold up leaves so they'd clear the bottom of the valence. It's possible that the wood spacer was added/changed at that time.
In the OEM world I'd imagine that Coachmen would have used stock stock at every opportunity instead of building in supplemental operations and costs, so I'd say I'm 90% confident that the 1x spacer was OEM.
The spacer is just there to allow the leaves to fold up and clear the window/blinds/valence. You could measure what size spacer works for your coach using a ruler and a try square to emulate the leaf folding up. Hold the ruler vertically against the obstruction you're trying to clear with the top corner of the ruler touching where the top of the leaf in the folded up vertical position would touch (assuming that the obstruction is at the top of the leaf in that position), and use the try square to measure back to the wall paneling at the height where the table will be mounted. Add a little to that dimension for clearance, deduct the width of the aluminum hardware and that's your spacer width.

Hi Keith. Mine is 14" x 2" x 3/4". It is routed all along the outer edge (think door molding) so it could actually be a little smaller than 2".
Like Richard said, I think the only real consideration is that you can remove and install the table without hitting anything, so as long as it is longer than the metal bracket and about an inch thick, the actual dimensions aren't that important.

Hi. That's not quite what I said, perhaps I wasn't clear. The table interlocking hardware would release before the tabletop came even close to the closest obstruction, which would be the plastic window trim in an OEM situation. You don't have to have the table vertical to remove it, right?
The spacer is there to allow the table leaves to fold up without hitting the plastic trim.

Richard - Both observations are correct. The table leaves would hit the wall without the spacer, but also since (at least on my coach) the spacer sinks into the wall upholstery a bit, if the metal bracket was attached directly to the wall I think removing the table would damage the upholstery.
The spacer of dimensions noted allows plenty of clearance for both. - Dave

Fantastic. I think I got it figured out.
It seems pretty straight forward.
I was guessing just over an inch, so 1" should be good.
