G'day,

There is another thread titled "Transmission _very_ sluggish" discussing transmission capacity. I thought I'd create a new thread
with the title "Transmission Capacities" so it will be easy to find in the future and provide some detailed information and
references.

Ref. Maintenance Manual: X-7525,

1) Section: GENERAL INFORMATION: Page: 0-11, RECOMMENDED FLUIDS AND LUBRICANTS
USAGE: Transmission
FLUID/LUBRICANT: DEXRON II automatic transmission fluid
CAPACITIES: 4 Qts.* Note at bottom of page: *12 qts. after complete overhaul

2) Section TRANSMISSION; Page 7-28, Adding Fluid to Dry Transmission and Converter Assembly

Comments:

A) Item 1) notes that the transmission requires "12 qts. after complete overhaul" and item 2 specifies "approximately 13 quarts."

B) If you have a switch pitch transmission (SPT) Manny recommends Mobil 1 Synthetic Transmission Fluid because SPT's run hotter than
standard transmission when in switch pitch mode and Mobil 1 Synthetic Transmission Fluid can take higher temps. You can run Mobil 1
in a non switch pitch but it is not necessary.

Regards,
Rob M.

Perfect, Rob! In future I'll have to give you a little advance notice of what I'll be working on so you will have some time to work up another entry in your GMCs for Dummies series for me. Wink
