At our Cascaders Rally this month one of the guys had a Dash Cam. This is
what I would have loved to have had when we went
through the Bronx, down Park Ave, through the Met Life Bldg onto Broadway
then through the Holland Tunnel.
Any experience with these and which one do you recommend.

Dwayne;

I just got a new Hero3 from GoPro. It's one of the more expensive out there, but is a spectacular bit of kit.

on our recent trip to FL, we had it both on the dash of the GMC and the motorcycle and it provides HD quality video. It was quite fun to 'replay,' some of the places we visited.

About $450 with a bunch of accessories. It's also equipped with a waterproof case and a bunch of mounting options.

I was going to say that the waterproof isnt' needed, but not that many of us have coaches that are completely leak free! lol

I see that these have a huge market in Russia due to caused accidents and
having proof available to defend yourself.

We have a relative working for our Govt controlled Auto \insurance company
who tells us about the MANY set up accidents that take place in the
Vancouver Area amongst a certain race to collect injury insurance. They
then have private investigators follow them around and find so many of them
while on so called compensation doing all sorts of physical acts.

I think it is a wise purchase to have one up front and probably one out the
rear. Unfortunate things are this way with people looking for a handout.
I wish I had one in my car when a guy rear ended me going full speed - 6500
damage to the rear of my BMW . He said he was texting.

Merry Christmas

Dwayne,

Same thing happened awhile back Downunder but the insurance companies figger'd it out and a fair number got prosecuted for insurance
fraud and that was the end of that.

I'll bet dollars to donuts it still goes on but not to the extent it use to.

Welcome. Use the links to the Ebay or Amazon sellers as there has been a
LOT of fraud in the popular cams. I've been watching them for a while and
that $52 (and its predecessor) keep getting 'best value.'

I looked at that one and read the reviews on the 52 one and it leads you to
a better one. However the price keeps climbing. \So if there is someone
here who has the 52 one and really pleased with it then I would look at 2 -
one for front and one for back.

I have the GoPro Hero 2 and the accessory comes with quite a few mounts.
Some for flat surfaces, some for curved surfaces. I had it mounted on the
fairing of my GL1800 and had in on from Grand Junct. to Cortez.
Spectacular video on those 2 laners but next time I'm going to mount it on
my helmet for smoother video...no matter how dumb it looks.
The video is high def and you have a selection of coverage (wide angle or
super wide angle) and it also has an option that allows you to turn the
camera on and off remotely.

Here is a shot vid taken with the camera mounted on the fairing. The road
was a bit rough and the camera caught all of it. Helmet mount next time.

Dwayne,

I bought two of the G1W's (one for the front window one for the rear) after watching a video of how they performed, funny it was
taken by a guy that lives in Cairns, QLD, Australia!

We have sold few Dash cam units shown on our NEW PRODUCTS. Should you need
a witness should someone cuts in front and cause an accident, it will help
your case.
