To Orlando we went last Thursday, returned on Monday.  Team Rodent is still in evidence everywhere.   the American Kennel Club "Meet the Breeds" part of the National Championships went well, our crew won 4th place in the Working Group breeds:

If you've never been, you should go, either to the Orlando one every December, or the one at the Javits Center in New York before Hallowe'en.  Whetever kind of dogs you like, they have.  At the Javits Center, they have cats also.

Oh the trip - the GMC ran flawlessly, and the new used toad trundled happily along in its new paint.  Cracked 10MPG on the way down on real gas.  Alcohol laced coming back, a bit under 9.  Not surprising.  Just under 500 miles one way.  Makes an all day trip if you're not in a hurry.  Since I was a day late getting out, I didn't get to JimB's place this year.  Shame, there's usually something interesting there.  After I got the wasps out, the icebox works well on propane now.  The Dometic heat-pumop is perfect for the weather - 40s at night and it kep the coach comfortable. I brought an electric heater along but diodn't need it.

Wekiwa Springs had upgraded the pads and put new gravel on the parking sites.  Beautiful and serene as ever.  Also now full hookup.  The sewer connection was just downhill enough from the pad to keep from havng to 'milk the slinky: when I got reay to leave.  Simply run the wash wand down it and back, clean as awhistle.  The staff is unobtrusive and helpful as well.  They still have the dump sites, so some of the camp sites may yet be withiout sewer hookup.  For TV, you're on your own.  I got 18 choices on a scan, many are Spanish, Jesus, or both; or selling soemthing.  Networks are there, though.

A nice gent namjed Jerry and his wife from Chico were next to me in a rented SOB from Cruise America.  It was on an F-450 chassis.  Jerry was unimpressed ("Total POS!") due to the poor quality ciontrol.  They were first renters of the RV - Class C cabover - and he said their travel had been a constant cycle of trim pieces and poorly secured stuff falling off it.  However, no major leaks and it ran well.  He also gave me two Wal-Mart camp chairs he'd bought on sale.  He said checking them back to CA would cost more than he paid for them.  So, I now have 4 camp chairs for people to enjoy adult beverages at rallies while the chicken cooks.

All in all a good trip without problems.  And a couple of kids on John Young Parkway are now aware that a Camaro may be swoopy and loud, but it's no match for a junk Ranger with a serious engine in it coming off a light.

Johnny,

Watch out for old guys with foot tremors at stop lights! It did my heart good! Something to be said for your having drilled down during your life to learn about applied technology.

Congratulations on your fine showing with the big dogs!

And also congratulations on the uneventful trip. I wish you had dash video of blowing the doors off of that Camaro! But not too good to carry around incriminating evidence. In Colorado they used to call it "Exhibition of speed" or some such legalese. You didn't even have to break the speed limit.

I really like to read these trip reports.

In Georgia, it's called 'Laying Drags', which sounds vaguely obscene to me, but I ain't in the Ga Legislooture.
I looked, but it go lost - I had one of the vid producers run up a spot.  If you remember, the Pontiac commercial for the Aussie built GTO.  It's at a light goosing the engine, and blasts off in an explosion.  We added a sound effect to the friont of it, the characteristic noise a geared Mopar starter makes.  When the tree comes dopwn, the explosion hits again and the camera shows the smoke clearing and then the doors falling off the Pointiac with a clatter.  The last is a windshield shot at the end of a strip with the car rumbling and the driver going heh-heh-heh as he turns onto the side road.  And then the Year One motto on a blank screen

Johnny,

This past weekend we were at a Christmas party at the Rosen Plaza in Orlando and noticed quite a few dogs at the hotel. I found out the dog show was at the Orange County Convention Center, which is connected to the Rosen by an elevated walkway.

Sunday morning we walked over to the convention center but found nobody there even though the doors from the hotel walkway were open. When we left at about noon we stopped by the RV parking area of the OCCC to see if maybe you were there. No GMC to be found.

Hope you had an enjoyable trip and maybe we will see you again sometime!

Ya must of walked to the wrong part of the Center.  We were in the North/South Concourse with roughly 150 other breed booths, 10 A to 4P.  25 show rings, all full of dogs.  Started actually about 9A.  You won't find me in that RV lot, they wanted $675 for 5 nights.  I stay at the Wekiwa Springs State Park campground up in Apopka and drive down to the center in the toad.
