1360 miles, 152 gallons of gas. No significant problems.
We loaded up the kids at 3 a.m. CST the saturday before Thanksgiving and drove from Indian Springs Village AL to Indiantown FL in a little over 14 hours, which included 3 one hour stops.
Coach ran wonderfully the entire way. During the week went out to Jeff Sirum's shop for some junkyard parts, some new odds and ends, and a new radio to replace the casette player that gave out a few trips ago. Jeff got the new radio in, plus some new speakers that fit in the old holes, aimed my headlights so that they were actually useful again, and helped me stop a very slow transmission leak through a pan bolt hole.
Came home in traffic over two days up 75 to Cordele GA, then 280 and assorted back roads home to Birmingham. Traffic was awful and we averaged the 675 or so miles at less than 50 mph. Thanks Ken Henderson for offering to put us up when we called, sorry the kids didn't hold out long enough to make it to your place.
Got a ticket for rolling through a stop sign in the middle of GA. Didn't see the sign early enough and there was no way the coach was going to stop without being in the intersection. Cop took a look at my AL license and saw the free dollar signs. Can't complain too much, I did actually roll through it.
Use your coaches folks. They run better the more you use them. Having said that, after getting home I winterized mine and it is done until February at the earliest.

Jerry - whereabouts didja get ticketed? Local po-lice, sheriff, or state patrol? I'll call their CofC or head official and bitch at them for screwing up tourism. Won't get you out of the ticket, but it might redirect their attention to the guy knocking over the 7 - 11.
I find rural GA much like rural AL where I grew up. Gads, remember Fruithurst?

Marion County Sheriff Deputy got me. And it's not worth bitching at the cop. I rolled through the stop sign and he did his job. I have no right to be upset about the ticket and told the officer as much. He could have been nice considering what I was driving and the date, but there was no reason for him to give me any kind of break. And yes, the rural south is the rural south, regardless of where you go. The only thing that changes is the football allegiance.

Jerry, I invite you to take a trip to South Dakota. Our traffic jams never exceed 3 minutes and if you accidently roll thru a stop sign, there is a pretty good chance that there wont be an officer around to see it. Bob

Maybe some summer I'll get a chance to head that way. Definitely on my bucket list, but only between May and September, and even that could be pushing it. I moved South from NJ for a reason!

Grew up just outside Asbury Park. Left for college in VA, then picked up a job in NYC before taking a new job in South FL and then getting transferred to Birmingham AL. I'm taking a tour of the Eastern U.S.!

They didn't used to be known as a problem area. There are ways to avoid tickets. If the cop is on traffic duty, you're hosed. He's a revenue enhancement officer and nobody gets a pass.
If it is a holiday, you're hosed. The cop isn't any more interested in being at work than you would be.
If the cop just worked an accident - particularly an accident with injuries, you're hosed.
Beyond these, about anything you get stopped for can get a pass, often with a cussin'. Politeness and a certain amount of subservience goes a long way. An amzing number of people, mostly young people, talk themselves into tickets. Around the stuidios I often here "I told that cop......!". Buster, you told the cop to ticket you... and he did, didn't he? My best - roughly twenty years ago I was on the interstate driving North out of Chicago headed towards Madison WI. Got stopped at roughly 2 ayem in a rental doing roughly 80 according to the trooper, whom I believe. I gave him the rental agreement and my expired license. The passenger side of the front seat was filled nearly to the console with beer empties. I was dead sober. And drove away with a cussing. I figured later the troop wasn't prepared to do all the paperwork on a Georgia license when I wasn't drunk.
Never been stopped in the GMC... although more than one cop has admired and spoken, at lights or in parking lots. b Unlikely that I will be, I don't run it much over 65. Perhaps on a backroad someplace wouldbe the only chance to get popped except for an equipment problem.

South Dakota use to be part of my territory. I spent a lot of time there from one border to the other. Obviously most of my time was in Sioux Falls, Aberdeen, and Pierre.
I think I saw a cop there once. I'm trying to remember where it was.

Got stopped at a sobriety road block, in GA, near Ken's house on a 4 lane road. Police officer looked at coach, looked at paper work, looked a VA Ham Plates, petted cat who was inspecting him, waived me thru the blockade. Marilyn behind me, cop stopped her, said "You are with him, commented on antique coach, and waved her on."
I think he liked the GMC.

Tom,
If, as seems likely, that was in Ellaville, 11 miles north of us, you were
lucky. When US19's 4-lane bypassed the town, traffic stops became the
replacement income for the lost downtown traffic. :-(
