Make sure you get the correct gasket with the vent passages built into the gasket. I've found the correct part number on the box from parts stores. But the vent feature wasn't there.

I ended up taking a bit of a short cut on the final drive fluid. I know it's not the best practice but I used a pump to remove as much fluid as possible and then filled with fresh fluid. That will give me some time to source a proper gasket. I,ll check the Applied GMC web site.
I have now changed the oil, transmission,final drive, cooling, and brake fluids. What else am I missing. I thought about power steering. What else am I missing?
