Make sure you get the correct gasket with the vent passages built into the gasket. I've found the correct part number on the box from parts stores. But the vent feature wasn't there.

And that really irked me. I bought the Fel-Pro set and it was made from tooling that was mine when I was the aftermarket at McCord, and some bozo took out the coining section that made that groove. (So, I formed a piece of welding rod as I remembered and hammered it into the thicker one of the two parts.)

I ended up taking a bit of a short cut on the final drive fluid. I know it's not the best practice but I used a pump to remove as much fluid as possible and then filled with fresh fluid. That will give me some time to source a proper gasket. I,ll check the Applied GMC web site.

I have now changed the oil, transmission,final drive, cooling, and brake fluids. What else am I missing. I thought about power steering. What else am I missing?
