Just got back from a 5 day excursion with a fellow GMCer to Big Bend National Park. Trip report and pictures soon to follow.

On the return trip we had a sudden loss of power and we ended up limping into a State Park for the night. I shut down the engine while I was checking in and when I tried to restart I got nothing, not even a click. Flipped the boost switch and she fired right up.

Upon checking the engine bay I discovered several drive belts had gone the way of the Dodo. The belt driving the AC compress was hanging behind the water pump pulley and the alternator belt was altogether missing. Apparently the loss of power was from the depleted battery that was no longer charging.

We settled in for the night and plugged in to shore power so the engine battery would recharge. Looked into my spares and I didn't have a extra alternator belt.

Gave a call to Jim K the following morning to get the part number so I could try and locate some belts locally. He was surprised that I didn't have overheating problems as the belt that drive the AC compressor also drives the water pump.

Took another look in the engine bay and confirmed that the one existing belt was driving both the steering pump AND the water pump. Is this the correct configuration? I might note that both the main pulley AND waterpump pulley has 3 drive channels. Again, is this a stock setup?

BTW,... almost got home (200 mile) on the just main battery. About 10 miles from home discovered turn signals didn't want to work so I flipped the boost switch. Got home with no further issues.
