I dunno. I sent him a question (Available matching speedo) and got an almost instant response. Which was unfortunately no. And I got to thinking, I can generate a pulse train relative to road speed much the same as the tach feed on the distributor (Aftermarket Summit, uses the GMC module). I wonder how much massaging it would take to make it accurate on one of the available calibrations (4, 6, 8 cyl).
We bought a bunch of cameras from a hethern chinee outfit on eBay and had the same fast response. They aren't up to Kanamota/Bounds/Travao/et al standard yet, but they're impressively close. Their approach is sell everything quickly. Heavy customer response and service.

Voltmeters on batteries are window dressing anyhow. Ammeter lets me know what's happening. My coach has two. These will look nice :)

can't tell anything with an ammeter
- is bat charged?
- is bat good?
- what level of charge is remaining
-
none of this can you get from an ammeter :>)
even the solar monitors keep track of current over time

Except whether the charging systen(s) work, how well it works, how well the battery(s) accept charge, whether they are being drained when the systems are thought to be off, and how much they are being drained in that circumstance. Which are the things I'm interested in. They are more expensive to implement than a voltmeter, which has led to their demise in production circumstances.
You do yours, I do mine.

There you go, Sean. Water, gravity, pipes, tanks and pumps is how my dad explained it to me when I was 12 years old, and so I got A's and B's in college when it came to electrical stuff. I'm still amazed when the owner of a local auto shop asks me to explain a relay in a wiring diagram. Or explain parallel and series to one of the technicians.

An old plumber years ago gave me the skinny on his profession, "Hot on the left, cold on the right, s$$t always goes downhill." Seemed simple enough.
Remember Von Clauswitz "In war, everything is simple. But even the simplest things are hord to accomplish."

This is what drove me to follow a career in electronics. I was one of those kids who was constantly taking things apart, and usually putting them back together successfully (but not always, then or now!). But when it came to electronic stuff, I couldn't discern what was going on, how it worked, or how to fix it. That led me to ham radio, vocational tech school in high school, and an electronics institute later on. The culmination of that will occur when I go out and wire the trailer lighting plug on my Volvo later this morning...
