hey GMC friends!
Well,... Since i'm now suddenly engaged to be married to a rather exciting European lady,
and since we now plan to spend half of our time overseas;
and since my 78 Eleganza is enough RV for our times here in the states...
Well... The recently repaired and customized 76 Birchhaven project coach could
quite possibly be up for sale :) Its a definite "maybe", and just testing the waters...
Yes, it was totalled in June 2012 (rear passenger side, cosmetic damage only)
and rebuilt with the help of a few friends on this list, this past spring (!)...
Then re-certified here in CA, re-registered, back on the road with stripped out interior,
this past summer...
Yes, you read this right.. Its a custom 21 foot GMC (a 23 footer that was cut down 2 more feet),
perfect for parallel parking in places you'd've never believed possible!
Mechanically sound, Olds 455, rebuilt trans, headers, ElectroLevel,
a little steering wander, so time for bushings up front.
Between salvage buy-back, repair parts, labor, plus a few more $k for the custom cut-down,
i'm into it for a little over $10k... And so if somebody else wants to pick up the ball and run with it,
well, that's roughly the price i'd be looking for.. for the coach, with leftover interior parts,
good working recent Dometic fridge, furnace, sinks, etc... (and great ideas for a new floor-plan).
In addition to this could/would be the optional 520 watts of solar panels installed on the roof,
plus high-end solar charge regulator and Magnum sine wave inverter/charger...
(altogether about $6,000 back in 2008)...
So I could retain all the solar, or i could include for a negotiable additional price.
Either way, its a one of a kind coach! Since I have free storage for the winter,
there's no hurry to sell... But i won't have a moment to re-start the rebuild project
until at least April... maybe not til next October! (Much of this next year we'll be overseas)
So if interested, please contact me off-list and i can give more details...
Cheers!

| Here's a floor plan that uses all original appliances and fixtures, except for the kitchen sink and whatever was directly behind the driver's seat. Should work for a couple that doesn't need a lot of storage.

And yes it is...check out solarsonic on facebook if you want to see what it used to look like. Would like to know what has become of it since the accident and repairs. Had inside pics on Craigslist back then, but could not find recent ones. Would like to see how a 21 footer handles compared to the 26.
