I have not yet received the report from Blackstone, but that appears to be a formality. The 403 has a very nasty knock on the bottom end which means a rebuild is necessary. That having been said...it makes no sense to rebuild that eng. when a 403 is just not enough eng. for the 29.5' stretch...so I will have a 455 built as the new eng.
I will require a coach specific 455 with ALL of the brackets intact...any one out there in the Pacific North West have a rebuild able core that I could buy ???

There is one in Spokane listed on the GMCMI used parts page:

Dan, you might ask J&S if they will accept a 403 core for the 455 rebuilt engine. The 403 is more difficult to find and 455's are relatively plentiful.

If you haven't had one built yet I would have Mr Hupy do it. He built the 455 in The Pig and it is sweeeeeet!

Dan,
The following might be of help to you.
Just a reminder for anoyne looking to have larger items shipped.
Try Yesterdays Tractors... They have a great site listing hauling schedules for anyone to use. Link below....
You can do a search for a hauler going from place to place.
Or you can place your own ad - asking for what you are looking to have transported from - to.

Good Luck, Tony
Tony (Ontario Canada) Marie and I are blessed to have had a 2nd chance to buy our farm. Still hoping and more importantly praying to be able to build a garage. Our 1970 Ultravan #520 has an Olds Toronado 455 in back.
