After finding out that the emergency brake could not be used because there is not enough throw with the stock emergency brake lever and that the lever was to hard to use I asked several GMC guys what they did. The best answer I received was to use an air actuator to supplement the stock system. After looking at the investment for a new cable system and air actuator I made my own system.
Instead of using the air type system I used a 12V electric actuator with 1000 pounds (5000N) of force and worked it together with the stock cable system.
I have no way of knowing how much force I can put on the lever located on the caliper of the rear brake so I was quite conservative with my adjustment of applied pressure. With the adjustment I have now the emergency brake holds well on a 7% grade and if stopped on level ground with the coach in gear it just starts to creep at 1500 RPM. I also tested it when slowing down for a traffic light I applied only the emergency brake and the coach stopped fine.
Anyone interested in installing one, I have made a parts list and have photos of what I did.

I have had to fabricate one part in my emergency brake system. It now works, but that lever.... it's a hard pull.

If there were a way to supplement it with some kind of reliable system, I'd want to look at it.

Hi Ken
If you can tell me how to post the photos and parts list I will be glad to do it.
I can send them to each individual but I have no idea where to post them so everyone can see it.

Paul, you have to login, then go to your albums, create an album, and up in the upper right is "Upload Photos", directly below the blue HELP button.

Once you've clicked that, there is a new screen. Click on "Select files to upload" and browse for the files you want to get. Repeat that until you are finished with all the photos you want to upload. After you finish uploading, click the "Upload/Submit" button just below.

The next page will show you all the photos you selected and allow you to title them and add descriptions. Then you click the "Process" button and you're done.

Paul,

I don't know if this will help - but it's from the Help menu on the photosite

If you're having some trouble uploading photos.

Your problem may be that the photos are just too large. They're ~250kb and 1600 x 1200 pixels. The photo site only displays a photo 1/2 that size by default so there is no sense to upload one larger than that unless it is imperitive to show detail. However, if you must, just do one at a time. That will increase your chances of it working right for you.

Otherwise, use the software that came with your camera to resize the photo by 50% or 800 pixels wide and retain the aspect ratio

You can replace the photos with the resized ones without having to replace your descriptions by logging in, go to "my albums", choose the correct album by clicking on it's title, click on a photo that needs to be changed, choose 'edit photo', select the revised photo by using the 'browse' button. This will create a new thumbnail, also. You can also delete the extra photos from the album this way.

There is a great FREE software package for batch resizing of photos. It is called FASTSTONE and can be downloaded here:

http://faststone-image-viewer.soft32.com/free-download/?lp=adwords&kw=Faststone&mt=b&ad=25477446918&pl=&ds=s&gclid=CIe-jtiqzLo CFU1gMgod0DkArQ

My process is I download from my camera into a directory that is created for that project. Using FastStone, I select the photos I want to make small copies off (I use 800x600) and create a sub-directory called small. The software puts the resized photos in the 'small' directory with the same name. This makes it easy for me to find the original larger photo if I need to.

Did I mention it is free!

Might I suggest you change that size to 1200 x 800 pixel? It won't add
that many bytes to the finished file and will make the pic a little more
useful size for your viewer.

Ok
I have logged in and yes I have gone to upload photos in the right hand corner about 20 times now. The problem is no screen comes up that says "select files to upload"
I dont know if this is because I have a Mac and not a windows computer but the website should be compatable to both.
Got any ideas ?

Paul,
I have a Mac also (Since 1989) and have no problems with the photo side, the site doesn’t know Mac and doesn’t care. I could be that you're not registered properly. The page that should come up is call “My Photo Image Upload.” The first line is your user name followed by you account info. The second section of the page is call “Upload My Photos," which is where your select and upload you photos.

My suggestion would be is to go back and go thru the registration process again as you might have missed one of the steps to complete the necessary steps. Did you receive a email from the photo with more instruction to follow? If not then you're not registered for the photo site, you're visiting as a guest.

Hello:
Thank you for the help. The problem was I was using Firefox as a browser and the button to actually select the photos to upload was not showing on the page.
I switched to Safari and it worked.

The photos are located under my albums named Emergency Brake Activator. (mechanical)

I also have a parts list and instructions in process. Do you think I can upload a PDF to the same site or does it have to be a jpeg?

pdf work as well as videos. Some of us use use tiny urls http://tinyurl.com/3xcs8j or just copy and paste the whole thing for a link
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/u1686-c-boyd.html
either way works for us to find your pics and for you to put shortcut on your desktop to find yourself.
