Continuing on with the never ending list of things to improve.
I intend to install an electro motor cruise control in my GMC.
Need help identifying the color coded wiring from the replacement GM family steering column so that I can have a neat installation.
1. Three loose wires (closely related) Black, Orange, Grey - These have small spade ends.
2. One black wire with a two contact spade end. This is more likely two wires, encased in black tubing.
3. Three wires that are joined together; Purple, Grey, and White.
Trying to follow John Sharpe's direction and write up.

Tom,
For control, you really need only two momentary NO contacts, one for
Set/Coast, the other for Increase/Resume. Rather than fool with all the
column mounted complexity, I bought a <$15 remote control off of eBay.
It's a two button remote, like a key fob, and a 12 VDC receiver about
2"x3"x1" containing the receiver and two relays, which can be set
fortoggle, latch, or momentary operation when a signal is received
from the
remote. One relay to Set/Coast, the other to Increase/Resume.
The remote is mounted on the left spoke of my S-10 steering wheel and is,
to me, more convenient than stalk mounted buttons. Mounting on some wheels
may not be that convenient. The remote has run for about 3 years with no
battery replacement.
