As we are still looking forward to our first GMCMI rally -- Cynthia asked me about the blankets which are made (for donation?) at the gathering.
Who/how organizes the effort? Do folks do some of the work in advance?
What style and sizes? To whom are they given? And a few more questions that I hope someone here or their spouse might answer.
Thank you,
Dennis

We have been doing this for many years now. I believe we started this in 2007 at Amana Colonies.
A different person usually coordinates it at each convention
Women usually bring fleece fabric to the convention. A print for the top and a solid color for the bottom. Usually 1-1/2 yards of each.
At the convention they put the two pieces together, cut fringes and then tie the fringes (top and bottom) together.
Prints can be for girls, boys, or seniors. We usually have more girls patterns.
They are donated to women's shelters, senior centers, homeless shelters depending on what is in the area. We prefer to donate to the town we are in rather than to a county facility as we want to thank the local community for their hospitality.
Our ladies has a fun time working on this. Some just donate fabric which are finished by others.
The recipients of the blankets have always been very grateful. I can see where a homeless child would love to have their own blanket to cuddle in.
